Denitia “Dee” Johnson, born in Chicago, IL, was raised in Birmingham, AL never knew which direction life was going to take her. She grew up predominantly with her mother and younger brother, who was her first victim of the barbering craft. She picked up her first pair of clippers at a very young age, insisting that she would be able to do the exact thing that she watched the older barbers do at the local barbershop where her younger brother use to get his hair cut. Although, the confidence was there, she was not ready for the big leagues just yet. With much practice on her brother and other willing participants, Denitia, was able to sharpen her skills as she used trial and error to teach herself how to properly fade hair.

She moved to Dallas, TX and attended Barber College. After receiving her physical license by the end of 2019, she had hopes of starting her professional career at the beginning of 2020, but was quickly stopped in her tracks due to COVID-19. Although many trials arose then and even still now, Denitia, through prayer and the help of those close to her, continues to build her empire brick by brick. She prides herself on actually caring about each client that sits in her chair. Really listening to them when they explain the look or style that they are going for as well as pouring into their spirit anyway that she is able to. “Giving a good cut is one thing, but the experience and how my clients get out of the chair and stroll confidently out of my shop brings a joy to my heart that I could never explain to anyone. And I feel that is the reason why most of my clients come back,” she said.

She now has over 15 years of overall experience cutting hair and uses each and everyday to try and learn something new to help shape her future!
